Al Borg Group takes seriously its role as a responsible corporate citizen and seeks to take account of the economic, social and environmental impacts of its operations. It is our belief that acting in this way is a source of business opportunity, improved competitiveness and sound business practice. We have defined Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as the sustainable development of our business – balancing our responsibilities to all our stakeholders including our shareholders, the environment and society. We believe that by releasing the power of individuals within Al Borg Group, we can have a positive impact on society and reduce our impact on the environment.

As an organization with strong core values, we are driven to deliver results by being totally reliable, resourceful, customer focused and by conducting ourselves with integrity. These values translate into every aspect of our business. Our CSR program is helping to create an organization in which our employees are proud to work and in which our stakeholders have confidence. Our program is focused on our environmental impacts; the communities in which we operate; our people; trading ethically with our customers and suppliers and the health and safety of our employees.

One of the CSR examples in 2010 is that the Company started offering subsidized medical laboratory testing as part of a Charitable Diagnosis program. In its pilot phase, Al Borg will offer up to 10,000 tests, with a view to establish a continuous program of sustainable wellbeing to the needy patient communities in Egypt. In order for this effort to reach the right target patients, Al Borg has partnered with a number of reputable nongovernmental charitable organizations that will identify and refer, through their field work, beneficiaries most in need of this service as part of their wider charitable healthcare programs. In 2011, we partnered with Egyptian Cure Bank in the “Half a million pound” charitable campaign during Ramadan, and later in December, we offered free glucose tests through all our branches during the weekends.

The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for establishing the Group’s CSR policies and the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for ensuring that the Company operates in accordance with these policies and reviews progress on a quarterly basis.
